Personality: Masurao is a generally lazy person. He will try to avoid work any chance he gets, even to the point where he has a few hiding places only a few people know about. If caught, he will work, patiently waiting for the slightest chance to escape. He doesn't like loud places, would much rather be with friends at a quiet place. He doesn't mind going out for drinks every once in a while, as long as it isn't somewhere loud. He is well aware of his limit and is very careful about that, so he usually doesn't drink much and will almost never become drunk. He is a very loyal friend and ally, he wouldn't betray a person's trust in him.
Despite his nature when there is a serious problem he will immediately head wherever he is needed and if someone around him is defenseless he will help them avoid harm. After a battle, he will help tend to the wounded and help carry them to the 4th division quarters. Then, he will swiftly disappear and take a long nap somewhere. He is really difficult to awaken when taking a nap after a battle.
Appearance: Masurao measures about 6'1" and weighs about one hundred and sixty pounds. He has a well toned body, with a diagonal scar along his right pectoral. He is a bit thinner than most people. His hair is gray and cut short all around except for long bangs that almost cover his eyes. He has it well-kept and cuts it regularly. He doesn't have any facial hair. His eyes are a dark blue color. He wears the regular shinigami clothing.
History/Background: Masurao was born on the Seireitei. Being born in the Seireitei he could afford to have a carefree lifestyle. He lived like that throughout his childhood. He didn't have many friends and he liked that. The less people he knows the less people there is to bother him, he thought. Don\'t get him wrong, he enjoys being with his friends, just not on a regular basis. One day, he thought about joining the academy. His friends were joining one by one. He started to get lonely and he thought,"Might as well give it a try...".
He arrived at the academy accompanied by one of his friends who offered to show him around the place. He dreaded the written assignments and barely managed to get passing grades on them. He preferred working his physical training , especially on hand-to-hand combat. His kido wasn't that great, he was a little below average. He took the hand-to-hand combat training very serious as it was the one that interested him the most. His instructors noticed he had talent on it. He was the best in his class. Masurao came to the conclusion that agility was necessary to be a good hand-to-hand combatant. Following that conclusion he focused on his speed for a while. His improvement was noticeable. His skills with the zanpakutou weren't good at the beginning. He tended to rely more on his hand-to-hand combat. His instructors penalized him each time so he dropped the habit and rose the top of his class. He graduated in six years, like most shinigami.
He applied for the Gotei 13. He was first admitted to the 11th division, but was displeased by all the shinigami asking him to spar with them. At first he sparred with some, but it was quickly getting annoying up to the point where he couldn't stand it anymore and requested a change in division. He was asked to join the 2nd division because of his speed, which he accepted. There he trained his speed and hand-to-hand combat further, learning the ability of shunpo. He wasn't very fond of the atmosphere in the division but still was the best place to be for him at the time. He went steadily up the ranks. After much training and meditation he communicated with his zanpaktuo and achieved shikai, which gave him a boost up the ranks. He stayed at the 2nd division a while longer until, one day, he was offered the lieutenant seat of the 8th division, which he accepted. He felt at ease at this division as opposed to his previous divisions, he really liked it.
